Lesson Plan

This lesson plan, the fourth in a unit on Speak, is designed to present the concepts of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder in the novel and in I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. Both texts also deal with the theme of silence as an expression of trauma, and during this unit students will be writing statements of theme that encompass both texts.
